Peter Theut, MD
Dr. Theut is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the treatment of athletes of all ages. He has a special interest in arthroscopy and reconstruction of the knee and shoulder. Dr. Theut comments, “As a former high school athlete and current avid skier and runner, I fully understand the important role that athletics can play in one’s life. I also recognize the anguish caused by serious injury and how important it is to receive timely, quality care and rehabilitation to speed recovery and facilitate return to an active lifestyle or competition.” Although he has additional training in athletic injuries, his practice is by no means limited to this subset of people; shoulder and knee problems can arise at any age from a variety of circumstances. Dr. Theut continues, “I welcome the opportunity to assist you in your orthopaedic care.”
Born and raised in Michigan, Dr. Theut feels fortunate to call Grand Rapids home where he has been able to build and enjoy his practice as an Orthopaedic Surgeon. After his residency, he completed an additional year of fellowship training at the University of Connecticut under the direction of Dr. John Fulkerson, who remains a national leader in the field. Following that, he joined Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan in 2000 and is “. . .thankful to be surrounded by such great people and partners.” Dr. Theut is part of the clinical faculty for Grand Valley State University, Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners.
In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. His personal interests include skiing, boating, running, reading and travel.
